A step-by-step guide on how to set up and calibrate your Redbird Alloy TH1 home flight simulator throttle for MSFS 2024
Accessing the Settings/Controls Menu
With Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 open, navigate to Settings and select Controls. Or, if you've already begun a flight, press the Escape key on your keyboard and select Controls.
Alloy TH1 Set Up
From the Controls menu, select Redbird Alloy TH1 from the Devices List on the left. Scroll down, click Power Management under Categories, and then Throttle.
Throttle Control Mapping
Left-click the field next to THROTTLE AXIS. When the field displays SCANNING..., push and pull the throttle controller back and forth on the TH1. Confirm that JOYSTICK LAXIS X is assigned to the THROTTLE AXIS.
Once the Throttle axis has been correctly mapped, it will be necessary to invert the THROTTLE AXIS by accessing the Action settings menu. Make sure the Set inverted axis option is checked.
Mixture Control Mapping
From the Controls menu, select Redbird Alloy TH1 from the Devices List on the left. Scroll down, click Power Management under Categories, and then Mixture.
Left-click the field next to MIXTURE AXIS (0 to 100%). When the field displays SCANNING..., push and pull the Mixture controller back and forth on the TH1. Confirm that JOYSTICK LAXIS Z is assigned to the MIXTURE AXIS (0 to 100%).
Once the Mixture axis has been correctly mapped, it will be necessary to invert the MIXTURE AXIS by accessing the Action settings menu. Make sure the Set inverted axis option is checked.
Propeller Control Mapping
From the Controls menu, select Redbird Alloy TH1 from the Devices List on the left. Scroll down, click Power Management under Categories, and then Propeller.
Left-click the field next to PROPELLER AXIS. When the field displays SCANNING..., push and pull the Propeller controller back and forth on the TH1. Confirm that JOYSTICK LAXIS Y is assigned to the PROPELLER AXIS.
Once the Propeller axis has been correctly mapped, it will be necessary to invert the PROPELLER AXIS by accessing the Action settings menu. Make sure the Set inverted axis option is checked.
GA* and FLAPS Mapping
The GA button and FLAPS toggle can also be mapped in MS2024. The easiest way to find the control to map is to use the Search by input option.
To map GA on the TH1 to the AUTO THROTTLE TO GA setting in MS2024, type "GA" into the search field and locate AUTO THROTTLE TO GA. Using the same method for assigning a controller input (see above), press the GA button (Button 3) on the TH1 during the SCANNING... process to assign it to AUTO THROTTLE TO GA.
*Note: The GA button (Button 3) is unavailable on Generation 1 TH1 Throttles.
Repeat this process to map the FLAP controls by toggling the FLAP switch UP (Button 1) to DECREASE FLAPS and toggling the FLAP switch DOWN (Button 2) to INCREASE FLAPS.
Calibrating the TH1
Before launching a flight, the TH1 must be calibrated in Windows. For detailed instructions on calibrating the Redbird Alloy TH1, please see the TH1 (gen 2) Throttle Calibration Guide (https://support.redbirdflight.com/th1-gen-2-calibration-guide).
