These directions apply to Redbird devices using Redbird Navigator. For Redbird Jay and Jay Velocity users, we recommend using the C172 aircraft when launching a flight to improve compatibility and the setup process.
Setting up my Redbird with PilotEdge for SimVenture 2025
Installation and Setup Instructions
- You will need a Trial or Active PilotEdge account to participate in SimVenture with your Redbird. For more information on how to create a Trial PilotEdge account, you can go to https://www.pilotedge.net/join.
- Once you have set up your PilotEdge account, you will next need to download the Scenery and NOTAM packages from the Prepar3D & FSX SimVenture Downloads page and follow the installation instructions from https://pilotedge.net/pages/fsxp3d-simventure2025 on the PilotEdge website.
- Once PilotEdge is installed, log in using the PilotEdge account credentials you used when creating your PilotEdge account to finish configuring PilotEdge.
- First, you will need to configure your PTT. Your Redbird's PTT is mapped by firmware, but you will still need to assign a key to this function. We recommend using the "~" key since it is generally unused on a Redbird device.
- Next, make sure your communications device is properly assigned and configured. PilotEdge recommends "A headset to use with your computer flight simulator (USB headset, 3.5mm headset, or real-world aviation headset adapter". If you want to use your aviation headset with your Redbird device, we recommend checking out the Redbird Aviation Headset Connect (https://retail.redbirdflight.com/products/redbird-aviation-headset-connect).
- You should not have to edit the Model Matching or Performance from the PilotEdge Pilot Client - Settings window. Just hit Apply and OK.
- You should now see the PilotEdge icon in your Taskbar/System Tray.
- Right-click on the Taskbar and select Taskbar settings

- Next, scroll to the Navigation area and click Select which icons appear on the taskbar
- Then, locate PilotEdge Pilot Client and make sure it is turned On to appear in the taskbar and verify again that the PilotEdge icon is in the Taskbar/System Tray.
- Next, we recommend creating a scenario for Redbird Navigator to start you on the ramp at KMSN in Madison, WI. We've made this easier for you by making a downloadable file with this already done.
- Download - KMSN Ramp.zip (Click to download)
- Extract the folder KMSN SimVenture 2025 from the download into the C:\Redbird\Missions\Saved Flights folder
- You should now see the mission KMSN SimVenture 2025 Ramp on the Dispatch screen in Navigator
